How to Get to Siquijor: Ferries, Flights and Transfers Explained

The short answer

There is no airport on Siquijor. Everyone arrives by sea, and the most reliable gateway is Dumaguete on Negros Oriental.

Route 1: Manila or Cebu to Dumaguete, then ferry

1. Fly into Dumaguete (DGT) from Manila or Cebu.
2. Take a tricycle from the airport to the Dumaguete port (about 10 minutes).
3. Board a fast craft to Siquijor Port or Larena — roughly 1 to 1.5 hours.

Aim to land before mid-afternoon. Crossings thin out late in the day, and the last departure is earlier than most travellers expect.

Route 2: From Bohol

Crossings run from Tagbilaran on some days, often via Larena. Fewer sailings, longer time on the water, but it saves backtracking if you are coming from Panglao.

Route 3: From Cebu by sea

Possible with an overnight or connecting ferry, usually through Dumaguete or Tagbilaran. Only worth it if you dislike flying.

• Siquijor Port (capital) — closest to San Juan and most beach accommodation.
• Larena Port — north side, handy for Bohol routes and northern stays.

Practical tips

• Buy tickets the day before in high season, or online where available.
• Bring cash for terminal fees and tricycles.
• Arrive 45–60 minutes early; boarding closes before departure.
• Sea sickness — the crossing is short but can be choppy November to January.
• Arrange your onward ride to your accommodation before you sail; ports are quiet at night.
